Regions of Mauritius

Mauritius is divided into nine districts which consist of different towns and villages. The island of Rodrigues used the be the countries tenth district before it gained autonomous status in 2002.



Rivière du Rempart
Rivière du Rempart is a district of Mauritius. It is located in the North-East of the country.Besides nearshore Amber Island (Île d'Ambre) and close-by Îlot Maunick, also the uninhabited offshore islands to the north of Pointe l'Hortal (the northernmost point of the main island of Mauritius), such as Gunner's Quoin (Coin de Mire), Flat Island (Île Plate), Gabriel Island (Îlot Gabriel), Pigeon Rock, (Île Round) Round Island and Serpent Island (Île aux Serpents) (the northernmost point of Mauritius, except for the dependencies), are part of the district.
